About our dog collars

Our dog collars are designed for everyday wear: soft enough to live on your dog 24/7 for ID tags, smart enough to match your harness and lead, and tough enough to handle a British winter. Every collar in the range is fully adjustable, finished with a strong D-ring for ID tags or a lead, and lined with neoprene so the strap sits gently against your dog's neck without rubbing. From small dog collars for toy breeds up to sturdy sizes for Labradors, we sell them as standalone collars or as part of a matching bundle with our harness, lead, bow and poo-bag holder — bundle buyers save 25% on the set.

Our dog collar range

The collection covers four broad looks. The patterned dog collars are our signature — florals, tartans, animal, hearts and seasonal prints designed in-house so they coordinate with the harness range. Pastel dog collars sit in the same fabric family in softer tones — pastel pink, blue, green and lilac for a gentler look. Solid colour collars in classics like berry red, royal blue, midnight black and forest green suit owners who prefer a cleaner finish. And our seasonal collars — festive tartans, autumn breeze, summer meadow — rotate through the year for owners who like to switch their dog's wardrobe with the calendar. Every print in the collar range has matching pieces across harnesses, leads, walking bags and poop pockets, so you can build a full coordinated set. How to choose the right dog collar

Start with sizing. A correctly fitted collar should let you slide two fingers comfortably between the collar and your dog's neck — any tighter and it'll rub, any looser and it can slip over the head. Measure around the widest part of your dog's neck (not under the chin), then check our sizing table below and pick the size that puts your dog's measurement in the middle of the range rather than at the very top or bottom — the adjustable buckle handles fine-tuning. For more detail on fit, our 2-finger fit guide walks through it step-by-step. Next, think about purpose. A collar's main job is to carry ID and look nice; if your dog pulls on the lead, we strongly recommend walking them on a harness instead and keeping the collar for ID only — this is especially important for puppies, small breeds and brachycephalic breeds like French Bulldogs and Pugs. Finally, choose a pattern that matches your existing harness and lead, or buy the matching bundle for a coordinated look (and 25% saving). For the full breakdown of styles and use cases, our complete dog collars guide covers it all.

Dog collar vs dog harness

A common question: should I buy a collar, a harness, or both? Most owners need both. The collar is the everyday strap your dog wears at home and around the house — it carries the ID tag (a legal requirement in the UK in public places) and is quick to clip a light lead onto for a calm potter round the block. The harness is what your dog should walk in. Walking a dog on a collar puts the full force of any pull onto their neck, which can stress the trachea, thyroid and (for some breeds) the spine. A harness spreads the force across the chest and is far safer — especially for puppies, small breeds and brachycephalic breeds. The simplest rule: collar at home for ID, harness on the walk for control. Our matching sets give you both in the same print so they look pulled together.

Dog collars by size

Toy and very small breeds (XS) — Chihuahuas, Yorkshire Terriers, Mini Dachshunds and Pomeranians need our XS collar, our narrowest small dog collar, sized to sit comfortably on a small neck without overwhelming the look. The XS is also the right size for most puppies from around 12 weeks, though check the measurement and be ready to size up as they grow.

Small breeds (S) — Cavapoos, Bichons, Shih Tzus, Cavaliers and small Cockapoos suit our S collar. The adjustable buckle gives plenty of room to grow into, and the neoprene lining keeps the strap soft against fluffier neck fur.

Medium breeds (M) — Cocker Spaniels, standard Cockapoos, Border Collies, Beagles and similar-sized breeds fit our M collar. This is the most commonly ordered size and the one where the patterned prints really show off.

Large breeds (L) — Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Staffies and larger Poodles fit our L collar, which is built on the same neoprene-lined construction with a longer strap and reinforced D-ring.

Brachycephalic and trachea-sensitive breeds — French Bulldogs, Pugs, English Bulldogs and Boston Terriers should wear a collar for ID only and walk on a harness. Their flat-faced anatomy makes them more sensitive to neck pressure, so even a well-fitted collar shouldn't be used as the primary walking attachment.

Shop dog collars by style

Not sure where to start? Most shoppers browse our collars by style. Go straight to best-selling dog collars for the tried-and-tested favourites, or dog collars on sale for current discounts. Buying for a new puppy? Our collar and lead sets pair a small, adjustable collar with a matching lead in one coordinated print. Whichever style you choose, every collar uses the same neoprene-lined, fully adjustable construction and coordinates with a matching harness, lead, bow and poop bag holder — so you can shop by look and still build a complete, matching set.

Matching bundles and accessories

Every collar in this range has a matching harness, lead, bow and poop bag holder cut from the same fabric run. The easiest way to buy is the matching bundle — one print across collar, harness and lead — which saves 25% compared with buying the pieces individually. Most owners start with the harness for the walk, then add the matching collar for ID and the lead so the full set coordinates. If you already own a harness in one of our prints, you can add the matching collar standalone — the print runs are kept consistent across the range so your collar will line up exactly with your existing harness.

Why PupClub Couture

We're a small UK team designing dog accessories we'd happily put on our own dogs. Every collar is neoprene-lined for comfort, finished with a strong D-ring and an adjustable buckle, and machine washable so it stays looking fresh. Patterns are designed in-house and made consistent across the harness, lead and walking bag range, so a bundle bought today will still match a piece bought next year. The team that answers your emails is the same team that picks the range — if you're between sizes or not sure whether a particular pattern suits your dog, just ask. We'd rather help you choose than have you guess.

Dog collar size guide

Measure around the widest part of your dog's neck (not under the chin), then pick the size that puts your dog's measurement in the middle of the range. The adjustable buckle handles fine-tuning. If your dog is between sizes, size UP — you can tighten an oversized collar but you can't loosen a too-small one.

Size Neck (cm) Width (cm) Best for
XS 20cm–30cm 1.5cm Toy breeds, puppies
S 25cm–38cm 2cm Small breeds, Cavapoos
M 32cm–48cm 2cm Cockers, Cockapoos, Beagles
L 39cm–59cm 2.5cm Labradors, Goldens, Staffies

Dog Collars FAQs

How tight should a dog collar be?
A correctly fitted collar lets you slide two fingers comfortably between the collar and your dog's neck. Any tighter and it'll rub; any looser and your dog can slip out of it. See our 2-finger fit guide for full detail.
How do I measure my dog for a collar?
Measure around the widest part of your dog's neck (not under the chin) with a soft tape measure. Pick the size where your dog's measurement sits in the middle of the listed range. If you're between sizes, size UP — you can tighten an oversized collar but not loosen a too-small one.
What sizes do your dog collars come in?
Our collars come in XS, S, M and L, fully adjustable within each size. XS suits toy breeds and puppies; Small suits Cavapoos and Bichons; Medium fits Cockers, Cockapoos and Beagles; Large fits Labradors, Goldens and Staffies. See the sizing table above for exact neck measurements.
Should I walk my dog on a collar or a harness?
Walk your dog on a harness and use the collar for ID. Walking on a collar puts the full force of any pull on your dog's neck, which can stress the trachea — especially in puppies, small breeds, and brachycephalic breeds like French Bulldogs and Pugs.
Are PupClub dog collars machine washable?
Yes. Machine wash cold or at 30°C on a gentle cycle, inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the buckle and D-ring, then air-dry flat. The neoprene lining and printed fabric both hold up well to repeated washing.
Can I buy a matching harness and lead?
Yes — every collar in the range has a matching harness and lead in the same print. Buy the matching bundle and save 25% on the set.
Why does my dog's collar keep slipping or rubbing?
A slipping collar is usually too loose; a rubbing collar is usually too tight, has a coarse lining, or sits on long-haired skin without protection. Our neoprene lining helps prevent rubbing, and the 2-finger fit rule prevents slipping. Re-measure your dog and adjust accordingly.
Is a collar a legal requirement in the UK?
Yes — in England, Scotland and Wales, the Control of Dogs Order 1992 requires dogs in a public place to wear a collar with the owner's name and address on it (a tag is the easiest way to comply). A collar is the simplest way to keep your dog legal and identifiable, even if you walk them on a harness.
